Pumpkin Patch Kid

I had notions about what parenthood would be like before I had Abby. While the first several months of her existence were incredibly hard and nothing like I expected, I still had visions of all the "family things" we would begin to do with her when she got older. Now that she is nearly nine months old, we are beginning to know just what it is to share our lives with this new little person, to give her experiences and to introduce her to the world around her.

Today, we intorduced her to "fall" in Texas (not nearly as beautiful as fall in Pennsylvania, but just as fun). We visited a pumpkin patch in Flower Mound, a short drive from our house, and were so excited to pick out Abby's very first pumpkin. When we arrived, the place was crawling with people of every age. Abby was especially excited to see all the kids running around. Her squeals and babbling were delightful to hear as our little social butterfly took it all in. As we set out to look for the perfect pumpkin, Abby wasn't quite sure how she felt about these big, orange things and wasn't too happy when we set her down among them...
But she soon relaxed and enjoyed all the things going on. She had her first interaction with a horse...

And even tasted her first snowcone..

Finally, she picked a miniature pumpkin - just the perfect size for her...

Then stopped for a photo opportunity...

All in all, Abby's first pumpkin patch experience was an experience to remember:-)
