First Steps!

It's official!! Abby finally took her first steps by herself! It was only 3-4 steps at a time, but she did it several times and was very deliberate about it! It was a VERY exciting moment (one that we had waited a LONG time for), and I was so happy that her Daddy didn't go into work until late today so he could just happen to witness them too!

I knew these first steps were coming as soon as Abby began "rearranging" the furniture in our house. I would find random chairs pushed into different rooms, all so she could "practice" her walking (so much for all the push toys we got her). She's a strong little girl. The kicker, though, had to be when Abby's cousins, Lexi and Grady came to visit. Abby LOVES her big cousin, Lexi, and we kept saying that she would inspire Abby to walk, just like she inspired Abby to begin crawling the day after we visited them over Thanksgiving. It took two days this time, but...lo and behold...she walked! Thanks, LEXI!

It's so weird that this day finally came (at 14 months old), especially since I was bit stressed about Abby not walking up until this point, but I'm already learning that this little girl does things in her own time and in her own way and all I need to do is support and encourage her and love her no matter what. I know that my life as I know it is over, but I'm very much looking forward to all the great things that come with this next phase of Abby's life (especially all the calories I will be burning chasing this crazy kid around). I'm SO proud of my little girl and thank God for her every single day...WAY TO GO, ABBY!!!!
