Two Weeks

It has been two weeks now since I have been staring at these sea green walls, and I honestly can't believe I've survived so far. I thought I'd have gone crazy long ago, but my hospital stay has been surprisingly bearable. Perhaps it is because of the wonderful nurses caring for me, or the sweet staff coming through, or maybe it is the steady stream of visitors who help pass the time and often come bearing food (thank God for them!!!!).

The kindness of everyone around me overwhelms me and makes me want to cry (happy tears, of course). Again, I am so thankful of the thoughtfulness and caring of friends that haven't know me all that long, but take it upon themselves to do what they can to comfort my family and me. They go absolutely above and beyond, even though they have families of their own to care for, and that means so much to me. One example of such kindness is when some of my neighbors surprised me with a baby shower in my hospital room. It was so great to have a night of treats, presents, and mommy talk with out kids. It was awesome:-)
So far, things are going well with the baby's health and my own. The baby continues to be very active with a strong heartbeat and very strong kicks. My cervix had remained unchanged for the past week, which is great news. Apparently keeping me in bed has helped with that. The only thing not cooperating as well is my uterus. It is quickly becoming the nightly routine to have to be hooked up to the monitor for hours at a time because of frequent, regular contractions. So far, the terbuteline is working to stop the contractions after several doses. I'm just hoping it continues to work. If it doesn't, the next step is to give my magnesium, of which the side affects are not so pleasant.
One new thing that they've had me start doing this week is wear these foot pumps that work to squeeze blood out of my feet to help with circulation and ward off blood clots. Matt thinks they are pretty sexy...
Abby continues to visit me most every day. It is my favorite part of the day, and she is quickly learning the drill and becoming comfortable in this environment (snacks and her DVDs also help). She is the most wonderful girl in the whole world and the 45 minutes a day she is with me will help me get through the next few weeks here.

Yay for foot pumps! I'm glad they've given you those ( even though they can be a pain in the arse to wear); blood clots are no fun. I am so happy you have friends there who are taking care of you the way I would if I were closer! Now if you can just talk one if them into dancing around your hospital room to some nsync Christmas music.....

So glad that your toes are painted! You look great by the way and Abby looks like she is taking on the role of big sister already. Keeping you in prayers as always.

i'm glad you are staying so positive! you're a great girl and doing a great mommy job and really taking care of yourself and little peanut! hang in there and keep those cozy shoes on! they don't look so bad, maybe i can borrow them sometime?!
ps...you want me to bring you some new paint, we could just paint right over that green color, we'd probably get a thank you note from the next person who has to sit in that bed. ;-)
